Chapter 138 Danger Lurks Ahead (1)
"Luna? What are you doing here at the capital city?" Ronald, who had been woken up due to the extreme killing intent he had sensed coming from outside his room, rushed out of the door and asked.@@@@
He didn't know why these two heroines were going down at each other's throats like this so early on in the morning, nor did he care about it, but he knew that if he hadn't interrupted on time, one of the heroines, most likely Luna, would have ended up dying.
The killing intents they had for one another was no joke after all, and even an ordinary cultivator within a 5 mile radius would've sensed their killing intents.
Both Luna and Iris, upon seeing Ronald come out of the room, immediately calmed themselves down and turned to Ronald.
"Oh, good morning Ronald! I just wanted to drop by and see how my lovely fiance was doing." Luna resisted the urge to run and hug him and quickly hid her bloodied right hand behind her back.
"Why didn't you let me know in advance then? If I knew that you had wanted to drop by earlier, then I would've stayed up all night just for you." Ronald didn't notice that Luna was bleeding and maintained his original personality as Luna's simp.
"Awh, Ronald... you don't have to do that for me, really... I wanted this visit to be a surprise for you." Considering that this was now only her 3rd time, 4th time if she were to include sneaking into Ronald's room last week, meeting Ronald ever since regressing back, Luna still wasn't used to hearing his sweet words again and couldn't help but want to tear up in front of him.
After all, she had long dreamed of and prayed in her previous life that she would be able to hear such sweet words from Ronald once again.
However, since she had managed to live an extremely long life filled with guilt and regret in her past life and had an extremely strong "dao heart" now, Luna managed to control her feelings and maintained her composure.
"Is that so? Well guess what Luna, I have a surprise for you as well!" Ronald saw this as a golden opportunity to finish a part of his plot now and quickly went back to his bedroom in order to grab something.
Moments later, he came back out holding what appeared to be a jade inkstone intricately carved with golden dragons coiling around a reflective inkwell while its surface shimmered faintly like a pool of liquid fortune under soft light.
"Here Luna, I know that you have always been talking about wanting this inkstone ever since you saw a picture of it back in highschool and so I got it at the Pavilion for you! Isn't it absolutely gorgeous?" Ronald 'proudly' presented 'The Imperial Inkstone of Prosperity' to Luna.
Upon receiving the inkstone from Ronald, Luna silently stared at the inkstone coldly.
"Uhh, what's wrong Luna? Is this perhaps not the right inkstone by any chance? I swear I'll immediately go straight back to the Pavilion and demand the right one if it's not." Ronald was slightly confused about Luna's reaction towards the inkstone and stated his original lines accordingly in the novel.
This was the same reaction that Luna had shown him back when she absolutely detested him in his previous life after all.
But then again, it doesn't really matter to him what Luna thought about it at this point, as long as the overall plot is considered a success, then that was good enough for him.
"No, no need to Ronald, you've gotten the correct inkstone and I like it a lot, it's just..." Luna's face began to slowly turn colder as she continued speaking, "Did the owner of the Pavilion or the seller make you pay for this inkstone?"
Now of course, since Luna was the one that had brought Ronald over to the Pavilion to begin with, she already knew in advance that she was going to be receiving this inkstone from him again.
Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that Ronald had sensed both Luna and Iris's killing intent beforehand and felt as though Luna was going to try and kill Iris if he said anything remotely bad about her, then he probably would've cursed Iris out instead.
But alas, he can't afford to let any of the heroines die off just yet, not until he was gone from this world first.
"..." Iris's face couldn't help but turn beet red after hearing what Ronald had said about her.
While everything that Ronald had praised her for was technically true, she thought that Ronald was going to belittle her in front of Luna, just like he had always done to every single girl back in her previous life.
But seeing that Ronald had genuinely praised her in front of Luna this time, Iris knew that he thought extremely highly of her.
This also further solidified in her heart that maybe there was a chance that she could fully get rid of Luna in his heart as well.
Luna on the other hand, was surprised to even hear a single praise come out of Ronald's mouth, and she couldn't understand why Ronald had thought of Iris so highly.
However, since that was the case, Luna scratched killing off Iris from her head for now.
"Okay, if you're happy then I'm happy."
Luna then turned over to Iris and said, "Now can I talk with my fiance in private now?"
And seeing as though Iris didn't object and stayed quiet this time, Luna forced a smile at her before turning back to Ronald.
"Let's go to your room then."
Luna then walked into Ronald's room without hesitation, and Ronald quickly followed behind soon after.
'...'
'Weird.'
'They were that close to killing each other, and yet I didn't even know about it till the last second.'
'...'
'Don't tell me I actually got fucking nerfed after regressing back...'
