Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead

Chapter 244: The Beginning : The Shattering

Chapter 244: The Beginning : The Shattering

"As expected, even if a remarkable bastion, a single city is an easy take in the grand scheme of things"

"We should thank their philistine nature... They wouldn’t have put up such faulty defences had they known who was lying inside this crypt..." next to Nosferatu, a bunch of hands manifested out of some sort of floating liquid, which was ectoplasm.

Multaemanus, The Unceasing, spectre lord assumed a visible form, which was naught but a roundish shape larger than multiple grown men put together, made of nothing but hands of various shapes and sizes, pointing the finger of what might have been some sort of giant mountain troll, she spoke again.

"How do we plan on undoing this seal?" she reminded her fellow of the task at hand.

At the moment, the great majority of the invading undeads were out and about inside of Bourgliotte, gathering the corpses and remains that could hardly be recognised as such by now, separating them into two piles, one of the corpses that had belonged to some above-average livings, all of which would be given to The Graveyard, the rest, would be put to strengthen the massive miasma generator created by Loimos.

The thing had been fully brought outside and was about half as tall as the city walls, resembling some sort of profane flesh totem, rib cages and skulls growing out of its base, the sheer amount of miasma it was pumping out was simply obscene, not only was it rising high and expanding quickly, the miasma itself was so dark that one could hardly gleam at its original, purplish appearance.

Loimos was still busy working on it at this very moment, displaying the full range of all his acquired skills and abilities, also aided and guided by Unacunerra as runes, sigils and all that good stuff was added onto the body of this massive rot construct. Stay updated with empire

Adding conditions and using arts, Loimos was making sure that the miasma would not tear everything down, the walls and infrastructure of the city could not simply be destroyed, instead changed into more suitable materials.

Injecting his death force, and other dead energies, this totem was still growing and expanding, the miasma focusing around the ancient crypt for the moment, seeping through the smallest of gaps and pushing up against the seal, which was so potent that even without directly interacting with it, the skeleton was feeling life striking back at him, sometime suddenly catching on fire as the sunlight directed its attention to him instead.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Multaemanus seemed to open up, the sphere of hands stretched open to allow the passage of a truly enormous hand covered in malignant growths, closing into a fist, ectoplasm leaking out like saliva from a hungry predator’s maw.

As for Slotriig, he assumed a thrusting stance, the miasma around them seemed to come closer, empowering them even further, a slew of earthen spells washing over them in the next instant, augmenting them even further.

The next second, without any signal, they all struck at once, all impacting against something invisible, a green and bright ripple revealing its presence, right before the strike, Loimos had focused the miasma on the opposite end of the monument, how efficient this was, no one had any idea, what was certain however, is that the world shook, cracks appearing on the seal.

A second set of strikes, a third, a fourth, a fifth, a sixth, and then, on the seventh, it all came breaking down, the ancient seal falling apart under the relentless assault, a pulse of power almost pushing them all to the ground, but it was not a last ditch effort from the prison, they had simply been graced with the presence of their king.

Every single undead felt as though their power suddenly surged, the miasma grew even darker of its own, it was official, Nitok, King Of The Dead had been freed, the effect of his release was felt by all on the continent and even further beyond.

Hearts ceased beating for a fraction of a second, or forever for the weakened, birds and insects fell straight down, knocked out of the sky by the release of the king’s presence, the elderly and sickly were for the most part, killed right there and then.

The rest, all were brought to a halt, many even to their knees by the shock, their minds failed to comprehend what was happening to them, but their bodies knew with certainty, like a switch had been flipped, life force within all stirred and flowed faster.

And for those of exceptional prowess, they found their sight to be drawn all in the same direction.

Staring straight at the reawakened monster, there was no doubt about it, danger was close.
