Godslayer: Reincarnated with SSS Rank Cultivation System

Chapter 85 Sharing the cave

Chapter 85 Sharing the cave

Wen Ran and Feng Yulan walked side by side, the cool mountain air brushing past them as they ascended a narrow path that wound up the mountain, leading them away from the city. The path was carved into the rocky terrain, small caves nestled within the mountainside. These caves were hidden by a spiritual array, concealing the private cultivation houses for the disciples of the sect—places meant for solitude, growth, and secrecy.

"My cave is up ahead," Feng Yulan said, her voice soft but purposeful. "Please be careful as you walk. The path is quite narrow and easy to trip over." She smiled, glancing over at Wen Ran, knowing full well that he wouldn't stumble, but wanting to tease him a little.

"The crevice is quite deep," she added, her eyes glinting mischievously. "Please take my hand, Brother Wen."@@@@

She extended her hand to him, the gesture simple yet loaded with meaning. Wen Ran could see the hope shining in her eyes, and it wasn't lost on him how much she longed for his attention, how deeply her feelings were becoming. The tiny, fluttering heart of the young woman beat wildly in her chest. She had never felt this way before, but now, with clarity she couldn't ignore, she realized that Wen Ran was someone she wanted to keep by her side.

But to her quiet disappointment, Wen Ran shook his head. "I'm alright," he said with a gentle but firm smile. "I'll be careful. Thank you for your concern, Sister Yulan."

The smile he gave her seemed fake, a mere mask to hide his true feelings. It was enough to make Yulan's heart ache, the unspoken distance between them expanding with every word he spoke. She didn't understand why, but each time Wen Ran gently pushed her away, her world felt like it might crumble. There was a tight knot in her chest, one she couldn't untangle, but the pain was becoming all too real.

The two of them chatted for a while, the conversation light and easy, just enough time to prepare a full meal. Afterward, Wen Ran excused himself, his body weary from the day's events. He turned to the side, finding a narrow space in the corner of the cave. Within moments, he was asleep, the exhaustion from the past week weighing heavily on him. It had been a long, grueling week, and he had never gotten the proper rest he needed.

Meanwhile, Yulan sat quietly, her eyes lingering on the wide back of the young man. She tried to push away any foolish thoughts, but the sight of him sleeping so soundly made her heart flutter with an unexpected longing. Just a little... she thought, her gaze drawn to his strong, defined arms. If only I could touch them, feel the muscles beneath his skin...

But before she could act on the impulse, her hand froze, just inches from his arm. Yulan, you idiot, she scolded herself silently. What are you even thinking? You've only just met him, and he's so much younger than you...

Her hand fell away as she exhaled, trying to shake off the feelings rising inside her. She didn't understand what was happening to her, but she forced herself to look away. With a heavy sigh, she moved to the other side of the cave, trying to find some space where she could sleep. But sleep didn't come easily, and when she finally drifted off, her dreams were filled with Wen Ran—his arms around her, holding her close.

She woke suddenly, her heart racing in panic. The dream was too vivid, too real. Her chest tightened as she sat up, scanning the cave for him. But Wen Ran was nowhere to be seen.

Her eyes widened in confusion, then narrowed in frustration as she opened the cave entrance. The first rays of dawn were breaking, and the morning light was already spilling across the landscape.

"You stupid Wen Ran..." she muttered under her breath, a mixture of concern and frustration bubbling inside her. She pressed her hand to her chest, the feelings stirring deeper than she had expected.
