Chapter 68 Eyes of the Predator
Chapter 68 Eyes of the Predator
Feng Yulan tried again to wake her brother, but his body remained unresponsive. This damn useless brother of mine, always unresponsive when I need him... She sighed deeply, frustration mounting within her. She sat down cross-legged on the ground, trying to calm herself and steady her thoughts.
"This is the worst place ever..." she muttered under her breath. They had been left here without any supervision, and she began to seriously question if joining this sect had been a good idea. Still, deep down, she knew that leaving was no longer an option. There were too many things at stake now.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of several cultivators wearing light yellow robes. They were clearly her seniors, and Feng Yulan quickly rose to her feet, bowing deeply to show her respect.
"Junior Feng Yulan greets the seniors," she said, her voice laced with respect, though it lacked the sincerity it once held. The events of the past few hours had drained her of much of the respect she had initially felt.
One of the men, a tall figure with long black hair and sharp eyebrows that cut through the air like swords, glanced around at the scattered bodies on the ground without a second thought. His gaze didn't linger on Feng Yulan at all.@@@@
"Good," he said indifferently, his voice deep and commanding. "Gather everyone around and bring them to the living quarters. Make sure they all wake up and have someone explain the situation. I will personally lead the three new talents to the outer disciple quarters." His voice was authoritative, yet emotionless. His flawless features were the type that would have drawn admiration from many, especially women, but as Feng Yulan observed him closely, something about him unsettled her.
I need to be careful and find Brother Wen Ran fast... she thought, her unease growing. Something about this place—and especially this man—felt off, and she needed to figure out what was really going on. She couldn't shake the feeling that things were not as they seemed.
"I can explain that," suddenly, a new person rushed in. He was just a youth, not much older than Wen Ran. He strolled into the hall like a godly being, with an air of indifference, and his aura felt as if the mountain was supporting his straight back. The suppressive aura pressed over Feng Yulan, and she instantly knew that this youth must be a genius to have such an aura at his age, probably not even eighteen.
"Brother Zhang Longtian!" The two people bowed deeply to him, their heads almost touching the ground. Looking at them, Feng Yulan felt that she too had to follow suit, but her head never bowed lower than her shoulders. In this world, there were very few people who earned her respect.
"Feng Yulan greets the three seniors. I'm sorry to ask, but could Senior Brother Zhang tell me what happened here while I was knocked out?" She bowed slightly deeper but only to the person who had just arrived, feeling that he was the most trustworthy, or at least that's what her gut told her.
The youth smiled, pleased with the attention he was receiving. On the outside, he appeared refined, but inside, he basked in the beauty of this new disciple. To him, this was an opportunity to butter her up.
While Feng Yulan was listening to a fabricated story of how Wen Ran was a once-in-a-lifetime talent and how an accident had caused the stone tablet to shatter, the man responsible for all the trouble was suffering a humiliation he would not soon forget. Even in his past life, nobody dared to mess with him in this way, but he endured. He didn't have the strength to take revenge yet, but in his heart, the seed of hatred was already planted and slowly growing toward this sect.
"Bark for us, and we will spare you. Or how about you walk ten circles around the sect naked on all fours, huh?" The trio tried to make Wen Ran's life as miserable as possible. At first, they hated it, but the longer it went on, the more they enjoyed the feeling of having control and humiliating him.
Wen Ran spat blood, his whole body bloodied from the wounds, but his gaze was still like a predator's.
Once I get the chance, all of you will die by my hands. His heart was calm as he waited for the moment when the three of them would drop their guard.
