Chapter 58 Learn from your mistakes
Zhang Ye broke out in a cold sweat.
He had never expected that Cheng Ju and others would actually kill their way into the villa while he was away.
Moreover, the hundreds of zombified employees in the entire villa area were completely indifferent, allowing them to approach the villa without any resistance, even the security team responsible for patrolling the area didn't stop them.
Why?
The reason was simple.
There were no corresponding instructions in their brains.
Basically, the intelligence of these zombies wasn't even at the level to deal with unexpected circumstances.
Every action of the employees was based on the instructions Zhang Ye had set up in advance, or constrained by the company positions they held.
Security guards would only patrol and fend off outsiders.
Workers would simply carry bricks, deal with ash, and mud.
And the actions of Cheng Ju and his group just happened to exceed this scope.
First, they were not enemies.
They were workers.
Secondly, the zombified employees they encountered along the way had no instruction in their brains not to allow internal personnel to approach the villa.
To the company machinery, this was a bug.
Zhang Ye immediately made corrections.
From today onward, any human employee who had not received permission from superiors was not allowed to leave their post without authorization.
Once discovered, all zombified employees were to immediately attack.
As for those captives—
Zhang Ye looked at Ai Bing, the woman who had been afraid to look at him ever since he returned.
Her stunning face was pale, filled with guilt and anxiety.
The lips she bit tightly also showed a hint of determination, indicating she had made some sort of preparation in her mind.
Meanwhile, Wang Yang kept cursing incessantly in the yard.
"You bitch!"
"If it weren't for me protecting you, someone else would have slept with you long ago!"
"Now look at you, climbing up the social tree..."
His leg was broken.
Just like several sections of bamboo snapped across in midair.
The zombified workers who had just been working together were just as proficient in wielding their shovels to attack people, showing no concern for any "collegial affection."
Anguished cries echoed one after another.
This made the faces of Cheng Ju and the others lying in the corner even paler.
"It's over, all is over."
"Damn you, Cheng!"
"It's all your fault!"
President Zhang had already woken up from his coma.
The first thing he did when he woke up was to try frantically to grab Cheng Ju's throat.
But he was swiftly pulled into a corner by a few of the zombified security guards already on standby, where he received a thoroughly brutal full-body 'massage.'
Behind him was the open vehicle.
More than a dozen silhouettes, some panicked and some silent, were struggling inside.
A chill soon rose around them, and the occasional gust of wind blew the smell of blood into the construction site.
"Creak..."
"Argh..."
The deep moans grew closer.
The shadows under the setting sun quickly merged into one.
The rustling sound of countless insects moving became a huge wave of noise.
From under the rubble, beneath the cars, and even from inside several unfinished apartment buildings, wailing figures started to crawl out.
When the first zombie appeared before Cheng Ju, he finally broke down.
"Help, help me!"
"I'm the principal, I can't die!"
"Zhang Ye, I was wrong, please, please save me!"
His cries for mercy were met with no response.
Zhang Ye, standing on top of the vehicle, simply watched coldly.
Not until the first zombie pounced on him did the nearly screaming pleas for mercy come to a sudden stop.
Then came the second.
And the third.
The horde of zombies pouring out from the construction site quickly climbed into the vehicle.
The shrieks of terror and the horrifying sounds of chewing arose almost simultaneously from below the vehicle.
Even the typically ruthless Wang Hu was twitching with tension, repeatedly tightening and loosening his grip on the knife handle.
Below, Cheng Ju had completely disappeared.
Over a dozen zombies, like wild dogs fighting over food, pressed down on him.
In less than ten minutes, only a few bones with scraps of flesh hung on them remained at his former location.
About an hour later, the commotion inside the vehicle gradually quieted down.
The still-hungry zombies, after confirming there were no other prey inside, attempted to crawl out and return to the construction site facing the vehicle's entrance.
Suddenly, more than a dozen bodyguards in black uniforms, holding shields, rushed over from the opposite side of the road.
They charged and crashed into the scene below, quickly turning it into a complete mess.
Then, they pushed back the zombies trying to crawl out of the vehicle, one by one, back into the vehicle and swiftly shut the rear door.
A list of names for potential new employees appeared before Zhang Ye.
He didn't recognize a single one.
Good.
They were eaten clean.
But they ate his food, and they thought they could leave?
Not so easy!
They would all stay!
Fully fed and quenched, they were just right to take over the jobs left by Cheng Ju and the others.
As for Ai Bing, she was a smart woman, naturally aware of what the actions of Cheng Ju and the others today would lead to.
