Chapter 49 Double Happiness Comes Knocking
Chapter 49 Double Happiness Comes Knocking
There was once a person.
He was just over twenty years old, yet his face was full of the vicissitudes of life.
In less than three years on the construction site, he underwent a radical transformation, changing from a tender youth to a greasy middle-aged man.
"Even if you graduated from Tsinghua University!"
"You still have to obediently mix concrete!"
"Got it?"
A simple catchphrase had thus become a holy scripture to dissuade countless civil engineering freshmen.
"I'm a junior, and I think civil engineering is pretty good. If you can't even endure this bit of hardship, you certainly won't make it in other fields."
Some questioned, but Brother Meng just smiled slightly.
One year later.
"Crap civil engineering, I fuck your mother!"
He said so.
From then on, Brother Meng became a new deity of civil engineering.
And now, this legendary civil engineering master was among the horde of zombies.
The zombies that rushed over were quickly surrounded by the employees brought by Tian Gou's trio.
These employees seemed no different from ordinary zombies, but in reality, their bodies had stopped decaying as soon as they joined the company.
Even some of the wounds on their skin had started to show signs of healing.
But the stench on their bodies was still strong.
So, everyone promptly retreated to the vehicle.
Zhang Ye leaned on the armrest, looking down at the employees making their way through the crowd of zombies below with a very contented expression.
The truck beneath him was exactly the heavy truck they had brought back from the robbers a few days ago.
Tian Gou's trio had made some simple modifications to it.
The top of the cabin was sealed, the edges had armrests, forming a three-meter-high platform, and the employees who performed the modifications were the company's only higher-talent individuals at the moment.
Handcraft Geng.
It seems a bit wasteful to have him repair generators.
Zhang Ye thought to himself, yet his eyes stayed fixed on the horde of zombies below until all the zombies nearing the truck were stuffed into the cabin below.
Two other employees, like human traffickers, frantically shoved them inside.
Ai Bing looked on with a pale face.
Is this recruiting?
It's clearly snatching piglets!
The attacking zombies had no idea who their real enemy was and just kept yelling at the five people on top of the truck.
The employees, all wearing smiling masks, treated their own kind with what could only be described as outright brutality.
Punches and kicks were common, and some even tore off limbs directly.
Employees had no concept of cruelty.
All they had in mind was the task.
Stuffing all the zombies near the truck into the cabin was the task.
The dozens of zombies were like meat stuffing forcibly crammed into buns, looking as though they might spill out at any moment, until the employee guarding the rear door of the cabin shut it tightly.
A vast array of system notifications popped up.
All about new employees.
"This is all normal."
"Try giving him some work to do."
Seeing her reaction, Zhang Ye quickly grabbed her hand and comforted her in a low voice.
"Okay."
"I'll give it a try."
Ai Bing nodded her head and looked again at her first official employee.
"Da Mengzi."
"Go and move those bricks over here."
As she spoke, she pointed to a mountainous pile of bricks not far away, signaling that was his target.
No sooner had the words left her mouth than Da Mengzi turned and charged in that direction.
But the direction he took wasn't toward the pile of bricks.
It was towards the horde of zombies.
There, the less-than-one-seventy-five-tall, pudgy fellow moved briskly on his feet, punching and kicking as he quickly picked out more than a dozen sturdy yellow-hat zombies from the horde.
He leaned back with his belly, hands behind him.
Then he gestured toward the distant pile of bricks with his chin, stacked high with layers of fat.
A dozen timid yellow-hat zombies then hurried toward the target set by Ai Bing, and in a matter of minutes, all the bricks there were moved in front of the two.
Everyone watched, agape.
What's going on?
This guy can actually command other zombies?
Zhang Ye quickly checked his employee list.
There was only Da Mengzi, the new employee listed over there; the yellow-hat zombies who had been driven to move bricks weren't on it at all.
In other words, those zombies were Da Mengzi's underlings.
Wait a minute.
Zhang Ye suddenly thought of something.
Could this be what "picking people for odd jobs" on Da Mengzi's attribute panel meant?
But this "odd jobs" clearly wasn't just about odd jobs.
It likely included any kind of work.
Moments later, a wave of ecstasy surged from the bottom of his heart, and Zhang Ye's mouth could barely close.
Great, great, great!
It's like killing two birds with one stone!
I was just worried about not having enough employee slots!
Now it's all good, with Da Mengzi's self-recruited dozen or so odd-job boys, if I pick another dozen employees, won't that make up a construction team!
As for the building materials and transportation team, I'll have to find another way.
Let's get the construction team up and running first.
"Ai Bing."
"You pick the people."
"Or just take them all back."
"After all, the worksite tasks are heavy, and screws are easily broken."
As Zhang Ye was speaking, his eyes suddenly darted to the dark building looming behind Ai Bing.
Why does it feel like someone is watching me?
