Chapter 463: Blaspheming Against a God
Grand palaces of unmatched majesty stood on the full moon in the starry skies of the Abyss.
Members of the Bright Moon Race moved about in an orderly fashion.
Starry River Warships were docked on the cold, barren ground beyond the palaces.
Ying Yue, the Moon God, sat serenely atop a platform within one of the palaces, draped in resplendent silver robes. A visiting Outer God sat opposite her as they engaged in conversation.
The stars shone brilliantly above the openwork palace.
The two female Outer Gods' attributes were naturally aligned. Their domains bordered each other and the two could be considered close friends.
They often discussed matters ranging from the state of their territories to strategies for gaining more followers and conquering additional lands.
"Ying Yue, do you have any worshipers in the Abyss below?" asked the Frost Crystal God, crystalline body shimmering with icy divine brilliance.
Her cheeks were slightly angular and her gaze sharp as she exuded a frosty air.
She had come to this moon in person after sensing a peculiar occurrence. Not long ago, she had detected a powerful Rank Ten individual in the Abyss attempting to connect with her via a sacrificial altar.
As she had been about to respond, the connection was abruptly severed, and the ritual was terminated.
The Frost Crystal God had no followers in the Abyss and had no means of investigating the matter.
Like other Outer Gods, she relied on sacrificial altars and vessels to project her influence into the Abyss. Her will simply could not penetrate its boundaries without these conduits.
She then thought of the Moon God.
The Moon God was clearly positioning herself to claim a share of the Abyss as she had started constructing palaces on this forgotten moon. Thus, the Frost Crystal God decided to travel a great distance to the moon above the Abyss to inquire about the matter.
"I do, so long as you count humans as worshipers," Ying Yue replied, resting her chin on her hand, expression distant. She looked like a living masterpiece. "A divine being like me—ascended through the power of the moon—once stayed on this desolate moon.
"A long, long time ago, when the foreign races still ruled the Abyss, some of the races there worshiped that God.
"Unfortunately, when the human race rose up, all the foreign races worshiping that God were wiped out.
"A supreme Sword God slew that God residing on this desolate moon. That God and several others attempted to intercept the Sword God when he broke through the barrier, only to be cut down.
"The full moon endures eternally, but all that once belonged to that God has been buried by time, and no followers of theirs remain in the Abyss.
"Some human cultivators unexpectedly obtained cultivation methods for absorbing lunar energy through the bloodlines and hearts of extinct foreign races that worshiped that God.
"They even used the secret methods those foreign races left behind to construct sacrificial altars."@@@@
Ying Yue's lips curled into a mocking smile, her face brimming with derisive amusement.
"After I came here and took over everything that God left behind, the human cultivators in the Abyss used the altars to establish contact with me.
"I even influenced a woman and took possession of her body," the Moon God bragged arrogantly.
As she spoke, she also multitasked, refining her new vessel's body and divine soul. She was preparing to roam the Abyss in the guise of Ling Yue'e and experience the cultures and practices there.
Ideally, she would also locate the youth who killed her followers and disrupted her plans in Absolute Heaven.
The Moon God made to continue in her boasting.
"I—"
Suddenly, her body trembled slightly.
An inexplicable blush bloomed on the face that had captivated countless male Outer Gods. It was as though she had consumed strong wine.
An hour later, the Demon Sect had taken over Star Moon Valley, destroying the altar and leveling every structure the heretical cultivators had built.
With their mission completed, the Demon Sect squad dispersed.
***
The Moon God had descended to the limits of her abilities two hundred zhang underground to avoid the Demon Sect's attack raging above.
Although she successfully escaped, the heretical cultivators worshiping her and following her commands were completely wiped out.
Without her subordinates, she was temporarily forced to rely on the Moonstones nurtured within the Stellar-Lunar Vein, extracting what little lunar energy she could to refine her vessel's bones and blood.
This lunar energy was far from enough. However, she feared that Demon Sect powerhouses still lingered above, so she remained hidden underground.
"It's all the fault of that guy below.
"I could've completed my vessel's transformation and ascended to the Nirvana Realm had he not drained all the lunar energy at the lower depths of the Stellar-Lunar Veins.
"If I had Nirvana Realm cultivation, I would have no reason to fear the Demon Sect and could've easily escaped from this place long ago."
The Moon God wore a cold expression as her divine sense probed the veins harboring the stellar energy. Strands of golden divine sense could be seen guiding the stellar energy within each vein downward.
The golden divine sense served as a conduit for the stellar energy, directing it into the body of the guy below.
"You ruined my plans, so I'll make sure things don't go smoothly for you either.
"Every human Godslayer seizing divine consciousness deserves to die a thousand deaths.
"To blaspheme against a God like me is the ultimate original sin."
Seven strands of moonlit divine sense shot into the depths of the ground.
This divine sense was beyond the perception of ordinary beings, only perceptible to those with divine consciousness in their divine sense.
The seven strands of moonlit divine sense entered seven crystalline veins, attempting to disrupt the golden divine sense and interfere with the flow of stellar energy.
When the Moon God's moonlit divine sense touched Pang Jian's golden divine sense, the electrifying, blissful sensation she had felt before sparked once more, this time, sevenfold in intensity.
Within a palace in the starry skies, Ying Yue's body trembled as a flushed moan escaped her lips.
Far from the Abyss, within grand palaces in a divine domain under her rule, her dedicated statues seemed to collectively shudder.
These majestic statues of worship, carved in her likeness and imbued with fragments of her divine consciousness, visibly trembled.
Within the Abyss, a peculiar spiritual assault struck her vessel deep underground. This shock reverberated to her true body and every divine statue within her domains.
Many devout worshippers noticed the anomaly while kneeling in prayer before her statues.
Priests loyal to her, clad in robes adorned with lunar symbols, stared blankly at the trembling statues.
"What's going on?"
"Your Grace, what's wrong?"
"What has disturbed you?"
Aware of the divine consciousness within the statues, the priests hastily prostrated themselves and inquired using sacred artifacts that the Moon God had bestowed upon them.
Nothing of concern. I am recruiting a rogue believer, a human in the Abyss. Once I subdue him, my teachings will spread in that wicked World.
Her calm divine voice resonated in the minds of the priests, quelling their worries.
