Chapter 444 - 451: Two Petty Thieves

Chapter 444: Chapter 451: Two Petty ThievesEmily Berns perked up her ears, listening intently to the sounds outside. On this silent night, the noises were growing clearer and clearer. Emily was already certain there were burglars inside, and it was not one but two people. Their audacity was astonishing—not only were they rummaging through things, but they were also talking aloud.

"Boss, go easy. Don’t wake up the people here."

"What’s to worry about? I’ve already looked into this. There’s only one woman living in this house. If she doesn’t wake up, fine. If she does, we’ll have some fun with her."

"There’s a car parked downstairs, so she must be home. But boss, we’re just burglars. If we commit rape, the charges will be much worse."

"Bullshit. Look at you, you coward. Being a burglar means you’re already breaking the law. Rape or no rape, it just ups the stakes a little. Besides, judging by the woman’s lifestyle, she’s someone with status—living in a villa like this and driving a car. Losing some money won’t bother her. But if she gets raped, would she dare to go public about it? The shame would be hers to bear."

"But what if..."

"What if my ass! Hurry up and find the goods. Once we’re done, we’ll go find her."

"What if she hears us and calls the cops?"

"You idiot. See this phone? The woman’s phone is right here in the living room. What is she going to use to call the police?"

Emily felt as if her soul had almost left her body in fear. This house wasn’t even hers—it belonged to a friend who had recently gone abroad. Emily decided to stay here while visiting YODC City. Who would have thought she’d run into burglars?

The loss of some money didn’t bother her, but the two guys seemed to have designs on her. That was her biggest worry. To make matters worse, she hadn’t brought her phone upstairs. Otherwise, she could have already called the police.

She quickly jumped out of bed, locked the bedroom door, and tried to barricade it with something. But the bedroom was too sparsely furnished, containing only a bed and a built-in wardrobe that was fixed to the wall and impossible to move.

All she could do now was hope the lock was strong enough to keep the two burglars out.

Lying in bed, Emily pulled the blanket over her head, her heart pounding uncontrollably. In her ears, the sound of the burglars’ footsteps drew closer and closer to her bedroom door.

"Clack!" The door lock was twisted, and Emily’s heart nearly leapt out of her throat.

Fortunately, the lock merely clicked once, and then the burglars’ footsteps moved to the next room. This gave Emily a glimmer of hope—if they finished

Johnny Fool quickly approached the window, preparing to climb out.

But James grabbed him smoothly and tossed him out before he could react.

The burglar who had fallen earlier was just regaining his breath when Johnny Fool hurtled down from above, landing squarely on him.

"Ahhh!" A piercing scream echoed through the night before falling silent. The older burglar was now completely motionless.

"Boss, boss, are you okay?" Johnny Fool scrambled upright, panic-stricken, trying to lift his unconscious leader. But pain shot through his fingers, revealing several might be broken.

James showed no mercy toward petty criminals like them. If it weren’t for him, Emily would have suffered unspeakable harm tonight. He ensured the burglars would bear their punishment—even if they didn’t become completely disabled, their days of thievery were over for good.
