2: God’s Kitten, Mii-chan, Goes to Another World
Suddenly, I woke up in the shadow of a house in some back alley.
I had expected to wake up in the middle of some grassy plain. That god was really kind. I can’t thank him enough.
“Mii~”
Hm? I thought I heard the mii of God’s pet kitten, Mii-chan, from somewhere... Am I just hearing things? As I was thinking this, the bag slung over my shoulder started to move. Oh dear, that’s scary.
“Mii, mii~”
It seems the sound is coming from inside the bag. Should I open it?
“Mii!”
Yup, it’s Mii-chan. Why are you here? Did you come out on your own again? Can you go back properly?
“Mii...”
No, I’m not angry. She looked at me sadly, so I picked her up and petted her.
“Mii~”
Mii-chan happily rubbed her head against me. She’s so cute. Come to think of it, I’m not sneezing. It seems the god also cured my cat allergy. For now, let’s find somewhere to sit and think things over.
When I stepped out from the back alley onto the main street, I realized this town was quite large. Holding Mii-chan and walking aimlessly along the main street, I found a park. Although the park had several benches, they were all occupied, leaving no place to sit. So, I decided to sit on a stone by the flowerbed.
With Mii-chan still in my arms, I pulled out the how-to book from my bag and began to read.
Firstly, it seems this country is called the Kingdom of Lumiere. It’s one of the larger countries in this world and has fewer conflicts with other nations. It appears that fighting monsters is prioritized over waging wars.
The town I’m currently in is a commercial city called Quart. It’s a relatively large town on the western side of this country. As I read further, I found information on general common sense, including the value of currency.

It seems that regular houses don’t have baths, but larger towns have communal baths. As a former Japanese person, having a bath is a pleasant surprise.
The room is small but clean. There’s a bed, a table, a chair, and a small dresser. When I set Mii-chan on the bed, she curled up and quickly fell asleep.
Speaking of which, there’s no mirror in the room. I wonder what I look like. From walking around the town, I saw people of various races. I even saw a bipedal lizard.
There were people with Western features as well as those with Eastern features. There didn’t seem to be a unified look, so any face would probably be fine.
I decided to check the contents of the bag given to me by the god. I found a how-to book, four sets of clothes and underwear, two towels, a bath towel, soap, a toothbrush set, two brushes, a small mirror, and a wallet.
One of the brushes was for Mii-chan, according to my appraisal skill. That god is really kind to Mii-chan. I’ll brush her later. I hope she likes it.
Looking at my face in the small mirror, I saw that I had a face that looked like a mix of my original self and a half-foreigner. My hair was dark gray and my eyes were blue. It was neither good nor bad, just average. I guess the god didn’t enhance my looks. Too bad.
The wallet, after paying for the inn, contained five gold coins, eight large silver coins, and two small silver coins. That’s 600,000 Retos. I’m grateful, but I must be careful not to waste it.
Lying on the bed, I read the how-to book. It seems that this world has boss-like monsters. The human race increases livable areas by defeating these bosses, but conversely, if the boss monsters (I’ll call them demon lords for convenience) attack, they can reclaim those areas. Scary.
I don’t want to get involved in such things, but it’s better to become stronger, so I’ll work hard.
As I watched Mii-chan’s adorable sleeping face, I started to feel sleepy too...
