Chapter 997 999: Confession and Proposal (3)
Arnold looked at Amelia with a dazed look.
Ah, really.
He didn't expect that Amelia would be the one to ask the question first among the two of them.
"I'm wiling, but..."
"But what?" Amelia's joy was interrupted when she heard the word 'but' and she glared in Arnold's direction.
It was as if she will directly drag him to the training ground should he disagree. After their training in the past year, Amelia's power was definitely among the top.
She's really strong and even Arnold had to be careful.
Of course, the two of them would never truly use any killing move when fighting against each other.
They didn't want to kill the other party but simply sparring.
"I..." Arnold saw Amelia's look and knew that he couldn't avoid it today. Amelia wanted an answer and she will get it, no matter what.
He took a deep breath and said, "I'm just worried that it'll be too much. We're among the forefront of the fighters and we have to fight against those magic beasts... I'm afraid that something will happen in the future."
What if they had just been together for a day and then one of them had to leave right the next moment?
The pain for the one left behind would be unimaginable.
Arnold could already fell the dull pain in his chest when he thought about this and he didn't want to leave Amelia in such a situation.
He wanted a future for them.
Otherwise, he would not have waited for so long and maintained his distance when he was still working as a mercenary. At that time, there were too many people who were aiming for his life and he didn't have the confidence to be able to protect Amelia.
Even though Samuel told him that he could protect Amelia...
He also wanted to be the one that Amelia relied on.
Because Samuel is only Amelia's brother and there would be a time when he could no longer take care of his sister.
Amelia also couldn't possibly rely on her brother for the rest of her life.
She had to live independently.
And it was this thought that pushed him to keep striving for the better and try his best to make sure that he could reassure their lives together.
But...
Arnold found out that the Green Planet was still in danger and they would have to face countless magic beasts.
Could he protect Amelia?
He was not entirely sure about that.
So he didn't dare to take a step forward and instead tried his best to maintain their relationship as it is.
"Are you stupid?" Amelia pouted.
"Mel..."
"No one knows what the future will be and it's my decision to be with you." Amelia grumbled. "You're so cool and rational, but isn't it a bit too much to worry about the future all the time?"
She had long known that Arnold is a very serious person, but it was this side of him that attracted her.
His sense of responsibility, his calmness and composure... it made him look more reliable.
At least, in her eyes, it was like that.
Of course, Amelia definitely couldn't compare Arnold with her brother. In terms of pure power and strength, her brother was definitely far better. And it was basically impossible to find anyone at the same level as her brother unless she was looking for other returnees.
But she didn't want to.
Strength has never been her criterion when choosing someone.
What she wanted is someone who could accompany her in life and someone whom she liked all the time.
"Just live in the present. Even if I die tomorrow, I don't want to regret anything in my life!" Amelia looked at Arnold solemnly.
Arnold looked at Amelia's solemn gaze and then smiled.
Yes, he had never asked her what she truly wanted.
It was his self righteousness that was thinking that only if he could guarantee their safety would it be possible for them to be together.
But who could truly know what would happen in the future?
They could only do their best to prepare in case an accident happen, but they still had to leave it to fate.
"Indeed, but I think that it's still not good."
"Ah?"
"I have to prepare a hearty dinner and a good venue," Arnold said slowly.
Amelia was stunned and then she grinned happily. "Then, I'll be waiting for it! You better make sure that I'll be satisfied."
At this moment, the solemnity and tense atmosphere had long disappeared. All that left was just an energetic young girl who was laughing cheekily.
Arnold smiled in response.
Seeing Amelia being so energetic like this is much better.
He really likes her very much.
"Don't worry, my princess. I'll prepare everything in accordance to your preferences."
Amelia smiled so widely that her eyes curved into crescent moon.
The two laughed together happily.
...
When Mr. Jones saw the two marriage certificates in front of him, he felt strangely satisfied.
At least, he didn't have to worry about the younger generation anymore.
But...
Mr. Jones glanced at the surveillance camera.
From this camera, he could still see Sean who was busy training in the training ground and being beaten up so badly.
Sean is basically the only one who hadn't gotten married yet.
His relationship with his girlfriend is stable, but neither seemed to be in a hurry to get married.
Then again, they were also younger than the others.
Still...
Mr. Jones felt that he should let his wife urge his third son to get married too. In this way, their house would be more lively.
If Sean were to know that his father was stimulated by his brother and sister's marriage, he would most likely vomit blood.
Father, don't compare me with them, ah!
He was not ready to start a family yet!
Unfortunately, Sean didn't know.
And when his mother started urging him to get married... Sean only felt that as the only child who hadn't gotten married, he ended up being pressured by his mother.
It was saddening.
