MY SUGAR MUMMY IS A BEAUTIFUL VAMPIRE

Chapter 117: A rising storm

Chapter 117: A rising storm

The ancient mansion echoed with the faint whisper of shadows as Rose, clad in her signature elegance, sat at the head of a large mahogany table. Damien lounged casually nearby, his gaze flitting between Rose and the flickering candlelight. Mimic stood at Damien's side, her features an unreadable mask of loyalty and concealed disdain.

Summoned at Rose's behest, Reggie, with a palpable aura of vigilance, took his place opposite Damien. His brothers, Gunther and Randal, remained back, their watchful eyes trained on the drama going on with the media. Their post, Tessa's apartment, where they monitored movements and reported back to Rose.

As the tension simmered beneath the surface, the conversation turned to the daunting task ahead: the rescue of Blake from the clutches of the state correctional facility.

Reggie, ever the pragmatic strategist, voiced his concerns. "Getting into the prison won't be easy, even for us. We must proceed with caution, ensuring a clean extraction for Blake's sake."

Rose nodded in agreement with Reggie's assessment, her expression grave as she addressed the assembled group. "Reggie is right. We cannot afford to be reckless. Blake's safety is paramount, and we must ensure that our actions do not jeopardize his well-being further. Caution will be our guiding principle as we move forward."

She cast a pointed glance at Damien, silently daring him to challenge her stance. Despite the tension between them, Rose remained resolute in her determination to execute the rescue mission with precision and integrity.

Damien, unmoved by Reggie's caution, leaned back in his chair with a sly grin. "If you want, Rose, I can simply compel every officer to release Blake. No need for elaborate plans when you have the powers of a royal blood at your disposal."

Rose's eyes narrowed at Damien's suggestion, recognizing it for what it was – a veiled attempt to undermine Blake's integrity. "Your methods leave much to be desired, Damien. I won't stoop to coercion and manipulation to achieve our goals."

Reggie cleared his throat, addressing the unspoken concern lingering in the air. "Let's not overlook the larger repercussions of Damien's proposed course of action. Even if we were to liberate Blake through coercion, the world will not simply forget his supposed crimes. We must consider the long-term consequences and how our actions will shape public perception of Blake and ourselves."

"This isn't worth your time, my lord," Reggie intervened, his voice calm but firm. "Let me handle this."

Rose hesitated, torn between her desire to retaliate and Reggie's wisdom. With a deep breath, she relented, stepping back and allowing Reggie to take the lead.

Reggie's jaw clenched as he sensed the tension escalating. Instincts to protect Rose surged within him. Mimic however was also head strong. She wouldn't cave in despite Reggie standing in front of her and twice her size. Reggie could see she was combat ready, talongs elongated and fangs slipping out of her lips.

"You may want to rethink that choice, mimic. Unlike you, there's only one version of me and I'm the original one," Reggie retorted, his tone laced with a warning.

Rose realizing how foolish it was to pick quarrels amongst themselves intervened, her voice cutting through the charged atmosphere. "Enough. We must work together, regardless of our differences. Our priority is Blake's safety, no matter the cost."

Despite the friction between them, the group begrudgingly agreed to set aside their animosities and focus on the task at hand. Plans were drawn, contingencies discussed, and strategies refined as they delved deeper into the intricacies of their mission.

As the night wore on, the air thickened with anticipation and unresolved tensions. Damien's flirtatious glances and smug smiles were met with stoic resolve from Rose, her unwavering determination to save Blake overshadowing any distractions.

Blood passed in a glass cup around the table, a symbolic gesture of unity in the face of adversity. Discussions ranged from means of engagement to potential obstacles, each member contributing their expertise and insights to the collective effort.

Amidst the subtle jabs and underlying rivalries, a fragile alliance began to take shape – a union of frenemies bound by a common cause. For now, they were united in purpose, their individual agendas momentarily set aside in pursuit of a greater goal.
