Chapter 2899 - 2430: She Had No Other Choice
"Mom, what are you talking about?" Annie Lawrence turned her head, hiding the contempt and fierceness in her eyes. She grabbed Rose Liall’s hand, looking sincere and earnest. "How could I bear to let you sleep in the streets and beg for food? Mom, I’m sorry. I was wrong for saying things that made you sad before."
"Actually, I am only going to accompany those bosses for dinner and drinks, nothing more. They are all very generous. When I come back, we will have money, and we can find a nice place for us to stay."
"Just bear with it a little longer and wait here for me for a few hours. I will be back soon."
Hearing what her daughter said, Rose felt more relieved.
It seems that her daughter is still filial after all.
She didn’t say anything to stop Annie from leaving, afraid that if she said too much, Annie would change her mind and not go.
She tearfully held Annie’s hand, with a bitter expression on her face, and nodded. "Alright, I’ll wait for you to come back. Just be sure to take care of yourself and don’t drink too much."
"Yes, I will," said Annie, her eyes red, as she tightly gripped her mother’s hand.
Her face showed the image of a dutiful and obedient daughter, while deep down she was calculating how to completely get rid of Rose Liall.

Annie Lawrence took a taxi to the hotel following the address given by David Benington.
She arrived at the agreed upon room and knocked on the door.
After a while, the door opened. A short, fat man wrapped in a bath towel stood in the doorway. After seeing Annie, he first gave her a once-over, then his eyes filled with satisfaction.
"Come in."
The man stepped aside to let her in.
Annie had always known that David wouldn’t introduce her to any young talents.
But seeing the short, fat man, she still felt especially disgusted.
She cursed David fiercely in her heart.
The man was even shorter than her, with a corpulent body, not only short and fat, but also looking quite old, at least fifty years old.
His eyes were particularly small, he had a bulbous, alcoholic nose, and he was balding.
He was completely repulsive.
Just thinking about having to spend time with a man like him, made Annie feel sick to her stomach.
However, she didn’t have any other choice now.
Even for a man like this, she no longer had the privilege to be choosy.
Based on her past experience, these older men could be somewhat perverted and difficult to please in certain ways, but they were generally very generous.
As long as she could satisfy this old man today.
She wouldn’t have to worry about money for the rest of the month.
With that in mind, Annie took a deep breath, forced herself to ignore the disgusting feeling, and walked into the room.
On the table were a bottle of red wine and two glasses.
Both glasses were filled with wine.
Annie stepped into the room and glanced at the old man, squeezing a smile from the corner of her lips: "Mr. Canton, I’ll take a bath first, alright?"
"No hurry, come here first." Mr. Canton smiled amiably, waving at her, and picked up one of the glasses of red wine. "Let’s have a couple of drinks first."
Annie looked at the wine in the glass, thinking that Mr. Canton might not look great, but at least he was a man who appreciated some romance.
Not like those other old men she had met before, who were always in such a hurry, unable to wait for a moment.
She would prefer to drink some wine first.
Better yet, to get completely drunk.
That way, with her eyes closed, she wouldn’t know what was happening.
It wouldn’t be as unbearable as when she was sober.
Annie slowly walked over, took the glass of wine from Mr. Canton, and swirled the wine in the glass while smiling brightly: "Sure, Mr. Canton, if you have such refined taste, I’ll accompany you for a few drinks."
