Chapter 262: Threatening Loth
Chapter 262: Threatening Loth
Damian remained suspended in the night sky as he watched the black SUV disappear into the distance beneath him. The ocean wind moved around him but never touched him. His wings had already vanished and all that remained was the silent figure floating beneath the moon with a tiny five-tailed fox standing quietly on his shoulder.
Rin did not speak immediately. For once, even the fox had no jokes. Unlike Hazel and the others, Clara was different.
She was not tied to Damian through contracts, rituals, inheritances, immortality, destiny or politics.
He simply liked her and because of that, her existence strangely carried more weight than many things Damian had achieved.
From a purely practical perspective, this breakup was beneficial. Damian had one less attachment anchoring him to Earth. One less weakness and one less reason to hesitate when the time finally came to leave.
But Rin wasn’t looking at this as a guide, it was looking at this as a friend and its friend looked miserable.
After a long silence Rin finally spoke.
"You could have used your title, you could’ve persuaded her." Damian’s eyes remained fixed ahead.
His expression did not change for a while. Then he slowly shook his head as a faint smile appeared on his lips.
Honestly, part of him had always wanted this. Not because he didn’t love her, but because he did.
His life was becoming dangerous, he things chasing him weren’t things Clara could understand anymore.
She deserved something smaller but much safer life. A meaningful life without living in constant fear.
"It’s better this way." His voice came out quietly.
Rin stared at him, it could see his eyes were empty.
Too empty.
They stayed there silently for several minutes before Damian suddenly asked..
"Will I ever be able to erase parts of people’s memories?"
Rin blinked as its head slowly turned. That question caught it completely off guard.
He knew Damian was asking because he wanted her to move on.
Rin understood immediately. If Clara remembered Damian how was she supposed to enjoy normal love?
How many men would she unconsciously compare to someone like Damian sexually?
He wasn’t trying to erase himself, he was trying to free her.
Rin looked away.
"...Eventually."
That was all it said. The option of having his wives do it was off the table because Damian did not want to get them involved in his personal business.
Meanwhile, inside the SUV Clara cried quietly. She had not stopped since they left. The windows reflected her red eyes and ruined makeup and he kept wiping her face only for more tears to appear.
Loth drove silently but every few minutes her eyes drifted upward toward the rearview mirror.
Confusion slowly became irritation, then disbelief and anger.
This stupid human threw away her Lord’s had shown affection like it was garbage. A worthless mortal, rejected a prince and a potential future demon lord. A being whose existence would one day shake worlds.
Loth could not understand. This wasn’t heartbreak in her eyes, it looked like insanity.
After nearly thirty minutes, the SUV rolled to a stop outside Clara’s apartment.
Clara quietly opened the door but paused. Without looking back she spoke softly.
"Please return everything you got me today. I want my old things back." She sniffed.
Loth didn’t answer and Clara stepped out before she hurried inside. At that moment, Loth’s eyes slowly changed as a mist peeled from flesh and when it fully emerged, it revealed her succubus soul.
Phasing out of the car, she stared directly at the apartment building malicious intent.
"For the sake of my lord’s affection, I’ll give you a painless death." She said in a cold voice.
In her eyes, this wasn’t cruelty, it was loyalty to her lord. Damian had sincerely opened his heart to this woman and gave her a privilege millions would kill for and Clara threw it away.
Loth could not tolerate such disrespect!
Buzz!
Just before she could move, the clouds above split apart and a pressure descended causing her body froze instantly with terror.
A pair of enormous violet eyes opened above the sky and Loth instantly turned.
Her soul trembled as she recognized those eyes.
"You will do no such thing or everyone you know and love will die." Damian’s voice boomed across the night.
Loth’s pupils contracted instantly. Her knees nearly buckled as she fell to her knees.
"My Lord!" Loth gasped.
Her succubus soul trembled violently as she stared into the enormous violet eyes filling the heavens.
However, her fists clenched hard as her nails dug into her palms. She lowered her head before the resentment in her eyes became visible.
She couldn’t understand how could her lord reject her but others himself with a human.
She may be a lesser demon by title but still infinitely superior to mortals. She would serve better as his play thing that a thousand human women. Yet he chased after a fragile human who could barely accept his existence.
And now he was watching over her.
Her chest tightened at the thought as jealousy surged within her heart. However Loth wasn’t stupid.
Her lord was kind, but kindness and mercy were not the same thing.
She had seen enough to understand the kind of person he is. If he determined her a threat to Clara he would murder her without a second though.
So she had to keep her thoughts hidden.
"Forgive me." Her head lowered deeply.
However, the murderous pressure did not weaken.
"From henceforth, your life is tied to that of this woman."
Loth’s eyes widened as she slowly raised her head.
"The moment she dies, yours ends." The violet eyes remained emotionless
Buzz!
Loth’s mind blanked but she lowered her head regardless .This time there was no resentment, only fear.
"...I understand." She muttered
The eyes remained open for several seconds, then slowly shut tight.
The clouds calmed and pressure disappeared almost instantly while Loth remained kneeling beside the SUV long after everything ended.
...Meanwhile...
Back at the beach Damian slowly opened his eyes. The moonlight returned and the ocean wind touched him again.
Rin stood quietly on his shoulder, staring at him for a while before asking;
"What now?"
Damian’s face remained expressionless and his eyes empty as he slowly looked toward the horizon.
"What else other than ruling this world and standing against my brothers?" He raised a brow.
Clara’s departure only ended a Chapter of his life, not his entire life.
