Chapter 438 The penultimate sin.
Chapter 438 The penultimate sin.
azazel, even on his knees and with his body marked by deep wounds, let out a roar that made the ground tremble.
his eyes, once a faint red glow, now burned like fiery furnaces. he used his mace to push himself up, and as he did, his body began to change.
muscles swelled, his skin darkened further, and a pulsating red aura emanated from him, as if the very essence of rage had been unleashed.
"you think you've defeated me?" azazel growled, his voice deeper and reverberating, every word dripping with pure hatred. "i am the sin of wrath incarnate! the more you hurt me, the stronger i become!"
dante took a step back, raising an eyebrow. "oh, great. a walking cliché. it wasn't enough to be big and dumb, you also get stronger the angrier you get."
azazel ignored the taunt. he lifted his mace, now glowing with blazing runes, and swung it with impossible speed for someone his size. a shockwave erupted around him, sending debris flying and creating a crushing pressure that raced toward dante.
dante dashed to the side, narrowly avoiding the strike, but the shockwave caught him, hurling him into a nearby boulder. he quickly got back to his feet, wiping a trickle of blood from his mouth. "okay, that was a bit more interesting," he admitted, spinning his spear.
azazel charged like a hurricane, his footsteps shaking the ground. every swing of his mace was accompanied by explosions of pure infernal energy. dante dodged skillfully, moving like a shadow, but azazel's increased speed and power were undeniable.
in a moment of distraction, one of azazel's strikes hit the ground near dante, creating an explosion that grazed him and sent him flying into the air. before he could recover, azazel was on him, grabbing him with a massive hand.
"now you die, worm!" azazel roared, squeezing dante with all his might. the red flames around his hand began to burn dante's flesh, drawing a grunt of pain from him.
"you really like to talk, don't you?" dante rasped, his voice strained but still laced with mockery. with a colossal effort, he maneuvered his spear, still in his free hand, and plunged it into azazel's arm. the spear's tip glowed with pulsating dark energy, releasing a blast of power that made the demon howl in pain and drop him.
dante landed on his feet, panting but still smiling. "you're tough, i'll give you that. but i'm nowhere near finished."
azazel roared again, his rage reaching an insane level. the ground around him began to crack, and infernal flames erupted from below. he raised his mace, now fully enveloped in red energy, and slammed it into the ground with all his might. the earth split apart, creating fissures that spread like webs, spewing molten lava and waves of energy.
dante leapt onto a floating rock, avoiding the destruction below. he looked at azazel with a calculated gaze. "if this is the best you've got, i'm starting to get bored."
dante exhaled deeply, turning on his heel to face the reborn demon. "ah... i hate persistent types," he muttered, his grip tightening on his spear. "haven't we had enough fun already?"
azazel didn't respond with words. he roared, and the sound was like thunder reverberating through the fifth circle. the ground trembled, fissures split open, and rivers of lava gushed forth like hot blood. infernal flames formed a halo around azazel, writhing and twisting as if they had a mind of their own.
"i am infinite wrath!" azazel bellowed, his voice rumbling like a storm. "you cannot destroy me, mortal! every strike you land only feeds my fury!"
"oh, great," dante said, rolling his eyes. "a motivational monologue. just what i needed."
without warning, azazel charged. his speed was far greater than before, as if all his energy had been amplified. he swung his mace, now fully engulfed in magma, in a destructive arc that left fiery trails in the air. dante dodged by a hair, feeling the intense heat brush past him, but before he could counter, azazel was on him again.
"you're faster," dante admitted, dodging another strike. he leapt back, spinning his spear in his hands like an extension of his body. "but you're still as dumb as a rock."
azazel roared again, his fury reaching a critical peak. he slammed his mace into the ground, creating a massive explosion that sent shards of lava and stone flying in all directions. dante was forced to defend himself, using his spear as an improvised shield. even so, the impact pushed him back several meters.
"alright," dante muttered, breathing heavily. "now you're starting to get on my nerves."
he raised his spear, which began to pulse with an even more intense dark energy. black flames danced along the weapon, and the very air around it seemed to warp. "if you want to go all out, then let's go all out," he said, his voice now cold and resolute.
azazel charged again, each step making the ground quake. his mace shone like a blazing sun, and he swung it with all his might. but dante was ready. he dodged in a swift and precise motion, the mace missing him by inches but hitting nothing but air.
"you're big and loud," dante said, his voice as sharp as a blade. "but i'm smarter."
in one fluid motion, he swung his spear in a perfect arc, aiming directly for the glowing crack running across azazel's chest. the tip of the weapon struck its mark, and an explosion of black and red energy erupted, illuminating the entire circle with a blinding light.
azazel let out a scream that seemed to tear through reality itself. his form began to collapse, but even in his final moments, he tried to fight, swinging his mace in a desperate last attack. dante leapt back, avoiding the strike, and watched as azazel's body disintegrated into a cloud of ash and flames.
"persistent, but predictable," dante said, spinning his spear before resting it on his shoulder once more. he looked down at the ashes, still faintly glowing with a dim light. "now that felt more final. another sin down... only pride remains." experience more tales on empire
