Chapter 310 Grand Elder Looks for a Moment of Respite.
The Yang Trial was supposed to happen during the day, where men would compete. But after Yang Wei gave Mao Geming a humiliating beating, the other men were smart enough not to challenge him again.
However, the women didn't give up.
Both the female disciples of the White Serpent Division and the Dragon Blossom Division hoped that, with enough effort, they could make Yang Wei take a liking to them.
This was the first time in history that the Yin Trial was taking place during the day. The women were determined not to give up on winning Yang Wei's heart.
As for Yang Wei, he was trying to focus on other things. He was still hoping Bai Suzhen would find Fairy Su Meirong quickly enough to heal Mu Lin and Ming Huiran's spirit wounds.
At that time, Yang Wei walked through the sect's central courtyard, his long robes billowing in the breeze.
Today, he wasn't wearing his usual plain white robes. Instead, he wore white and light-blue robes with decorative gold tracings on the edges.
As he walked, whispers and giggles followed him like an eager puppy.
"Grand Elder Yang!" a young female disciple called out, rushing to his side with a bright smile. "Would you like to see the new techniques I've been practicing? I could really use your guidance."
Before he could respond, another disciple appeared, practically shoving the first one aside. "Grand Elder, I baked these lotus cakes for you. They're your favorite, right?!"
Yang Wei nodded politely and gave a tight-lipped smile while his eyes searched for a way to leave. But the women wouldn't give up. Every few steps, another hopeful follower would show up, each one bringing a new request or gift, all trying to outshine the others to get his attention.
"Grand Elder, would you like to spar with me later? I've improved so much since your last lesson."
"Grand Elder, I embroidered this handkerchief with your initials. Do you like it?"
"Grand Elder, could you—"Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Yang Wei sighed to himself, regretting his choice to walk through the sect today. It felt like he was navigating through a sea of admirers, each one more enthusiastic than the last.
...
Finally, Yang Wei reached the Tea Pavilion, hoping for a moment of peace. He found a quiet corner and looked forward to enjoying a calm cup of tea. But the peace didn't last long.
"Grand Elder Yang Wei, can I join you?" a sweet voice interrupted his thoughts.
He looked up and saw a senior disciple who had beautiful, yet mischievous eyes.
Before he could answer, she sat down across from him and poured herself a cup of tea.
"I've always admired your wisdom, Grand Elder. Could you tell me about your experiences in the Mashyan World?"
Yang Wei had barely started to speak when another disciple approached, carrying a delicate tea set.
"Grand Elder, I brought you a special blend of tea from the southern mountains. It's supposed to be very refreshing."
The first disciple glared at the newcomer, and Yang Wei realized he was caught in the middle of an unspoken battle. More disciples gathered around, each bringing their own gifts and questions all while their eyes remained fixed on him.
"Grand Elder, do you prefer green tea or black tea?"
It had been two days since the entire ordeal with Emperor Heavenmind, and Yang Wei couldn't stop thinking about him. It took something big to get him worried, and Heavenmind was definitely one of those things.
There was so much he wanted to learn about the mysterious cultivator, but with Heavenmind sealed away, it seemed impossible.
Yang Wei hadn't even eaten in days and couldn't focus on cultivating because he was too caught up trying to figure out what his alternate self's motives could be for trying to take Mu Lingxi.
"This is all garbage..." he told himself.
Yang Wei thought about asking Mu Lingxi for help, which seemed like a good idea.
But he knew her well──she needed delicate handling.
After much thought, he decided to let her finish her seclusion.
Supposedly, she was in seclusion to cultivate her humility and self-control, meaning she wouldn't be available for a while.
Initially, Yang Wei suspected she was just avoiding him, but he reconsidered. Now that he'd seen Mu Lingxi shed tears, he fully believed she wouldn't make the same mistake twice.
"Ugh, I'll kill myself with all this thinking..."
He sighed heavily, lying on the grassy ground, gazing at the blue sky, enjoying a moment of peace before inevitably being swarmed by more eager female disciples.
Slowly but surely, Yang Wei drifted off to sleep.
He hadn't been asleep for long when he sensed the warm sun no longer shining on him. The air around him grew cooler, and he felt a presence looming over him.
Alongside this, a delicate fragrance filled his senses, soothing him.
sniff~ sniff~
Curious, he sniffed the air a few times, finding it calming and refreshing.
"Hm?"
Opening his eyes, Yang Wei confirmed who this presence belonged to.
It was a woman of absolute beauty and elegance.
Elder Qian.
In typical fashion, she possessed a face that would captivate any man.
Very delicate, aristocratic facial features including high cheekbones, a slender nose, and a soft jawline, all complemented by her confident blue eyes.
Yang Wei rose from the grassy earth. "Elder Qian?"
