Chapter 41 Ring of knights & the silver ape
As Xander placed his hand on the alter it was as if the energy inside his body was being sucked out. His Mana was reducing as the alter was eating it up.
[The cursed item, 'ring of knights' is now yours.]
"The hell is this system talking about?" Xander said but then the top the alter suddenly opened like a book.
Xander curiously looked inside and saw a small black ring which was emitting a faint black aura but Xander could see it clearly.
Xander picked up the ring and then put it on his finger. Another screen popped up in front of him.
[Knights are known for their ability to use weapons skillfully. They had no magic and was always at a disadvantage.
They created the ring of knights which makes others not able to use Mana. With this ring, a knight could triumph over the mightiest of Beasts and even their fellow person.]
"The system sure loves Story telling." Xander chuckled as he looked at the ring on his hand with a smile.
[You can use your mind to select targets to use the ring on. The target won't be able to use magic at all.]
Xander smiled upon seeing the notification in front of him. This ability was a very good advantage if there were actual people in the caves to use it on.
Xander couldn't wait to actually test the ring.
"I wonder if the Manticore uses magic." Xander said as he dismissed the reaper.
Just there Xander could feel the so called soul space which was where his Mana came from and something appeared within it which was the reaper.
"Time to continue searching for that cave." Xander said as he walked out of the dead end where he saw the ring. He could see in the dark so it wasn't hard for him to navigate around the caves.
He avoided paths that he has followed before and knew and instead, searched other parts of the tunnels.
Soon, Xander stopped while passing a particular pathway. He saw the skeletal frame of the giant fly that he and Harry had killed before.
All the meat they left was gone and the bones were clean. Xander knew that meat doesn't dissipate so something was wrong.
"Meat can't just vanish. Something is wrong." Xander said as he walked towards the skeletal figure and placed his hand on it.
He breathed out before he directed the energy in his stomach to flow through his hand and into the bones.
Soon, the red energy from his hand surrounded the bones like flames burning it and reforming it. From the flames, a new creature emerged.
'I never thought that I would get to use my anti-magic ability this early.' Xander thought as he used his mind to activate the skill of the ring.
[You have activated the ring of knights.
Target: Level 67 silver ape]
The ape charged towards Xander, not knowing that it couldn't use it's stupid, annoying bastard shield again.
"Let's see if you can use your stupid shield against me again." Xander jumped with all his strength towards the ape that was coming towards him.
Xander spun his spear and flipped on the air as he brought down his spear on the ape's head.
The ape had no worry as it's talent energy shield would protect it. Just then the ape felt a weight of probably a mountain pressing against it's head.
With a loud bang Xander knocked the ape with the sharp side of the spear and the ape bent as it's head got buried in the sand.
"What?!" Xander exclaimed lowly as he looked at the small cut he made. The spear only cut a little part of the silver ape's hair and left a small cut in it's skin.
The ape then stood up from the ground and Xander jumped out of it's apth before he gets hit again to recalibrate.
He then looked at the chest all the way down to the belly that didn't have hair. On the chest was the slash mark and Xander immediately ran to the ape as he had an idea.
'That's probably the weak spot.' He thought as he ran towards the ape.
The ape's eyes turned red as it let out an ear-piercing roar that reverberated through the tunnels before charging towards Xander.
In Xander's eyes, the ape wasn't too fast and was even slower than the reaper. If he brings out the reaper now, the ape would lose to it.
He dodged the fist coming to him and struck the chest of the ape. The ape didn't let this as it immediately knew the humans intention and bent it's body.
The spear hit it's skin again and Xander was forced to move back again. He gritted his teeth as he dodged another punch.
Xander kept on sending strikes at the ape but the ape would always escape narrowly.
Xander then saw a smile on the ape's face and he furrowed his brows as he got annoyed.
"You're mocking me?!" Xander said as he clenched his fists in front of him and six red levitating disc's of energy appeared around the ape.
Six chains spurted out and wrapped the ape tightly, making it's eyes to go wide in realization.
It looked forward to see Xander walking towards it with a brandished spear, a thin layer of red energy covered Xander and as he spun, the red aura around him surrounded his spear and he slashed at the ape.
