Chapter 371: The Ditto That Fights Itself
Chapter 371: The Ditto That Fights Itself
"I understand. I'll head to Mount Tensei as soon as possible," Feng Che nodded.
"By the way, Lance, do you know what the League's endgame is for Gringey City? I suddenly received a mission to investigate the disappearance of Special Investigator A-Bo there." Feng Che suspected Lance might have insight into why the League was funneling him toward that specific location.
"The League has finally moved against you," Lance said, his tone turning grim. "Gringey City isn't just a site of industrial pollution; it's the location of the notorious Gringey Base. A-Bo is the head of that facility. Damalanchi's goal is to arrest you there, away from the eyes of the public. They've likely stationed a massive force in the city."
"If Agatha and Lorelei were still in their positions, they could have blocked this 'evaluation' for you. But they are under investigation by the Global Federation. You're on your own for this one. Stay flexible."
"I see. Thanks for the heads-up," Feng Che replied.
"I'll hang up now. If Damalanchi manages to catch you, I'll find a way to break you out," Lance promised solemnly before the screen went black.
Feng Che sat in silence for a moment. So, my predecessor was a descendant of the Dragon Clan... specifically the Unova branch. But based on my memories, I'm well past sixteen. Perhaps the timing of these latent power awakenings varies between individuals.
The Ancient Beedrill
Feng Che returned to the basement of the nursery. Elder Bug had already compiled all his knowledge of the Stinger Organization onto a USB drive.
"Elder Bug, I need you to return to Stinger and act as my mole. I need intelligence on the Queen Bee specifically," Feng Che instructed. "Also, I want you to breed a special kind of Beedrill for me—one based on your prime specimen, but at a standard size, retaining its ancestral traits."
"Master Feng Che, I have actually already bred such a creature," Elder Bug said, pulling a Poké Ball from his belt. "However, its toxicity is only 1.5 times that of a normal Beedrill. It was considered a failure by the organization."
"Go, Beedrill!"
The Pokémon that emerged was terrifying. Its antennae were shorter, its mandibles sharper and filled with jagged teeth. Its stingers were elongated, and its forearms featured lance-like guards. Its body was covered in sharp, venomous spikes.
"This is an Ancient Beedrill I bred by purifying the bloodline," Elder Bug explained with a look of disdain. "But Stinger demands small size, high speed, and 'instant-death' toxins. These are too large and slow for assassination. I have six of them—three pairs. I'll give them all to you."
"A word of warning: they are wild and often disobedient. Do not let them escape into the wild. Their reproductive rate is low because their genes are too 'heavy,' but if they crossbreed with common Beedrill, it could trigger an ecological disaster."
Elder Bug bowed and prepared to depart. He released four specialized Beedrill with massive wings. They spat out shimmering silk, cocooning the old man before lifting the "pod" and flying off into the night.
Ditto's Evolution
"Come out, Ditto!"
It was time to solve the bottleneck in Ditto's power. Feng Che released the two "failed" Genesect specimens Fuji had given him—one designed for melee, the other for heavy artillery.
"Ditto, consume these."
Ditto's body expanded, splitting into two gelatinous masses that enveloped the steel husks. The Pokémon began secreting a high-potency acid to break down the Mythical DNA and the specialized alloy armor.
Ditto: So... much... energy! I feel like once I digest these, my transformations won't be limited to the Gym Leader level anymore.
Ditto had hit a plateau after reaching the Heavenly King rank. Aside from its "Shadow Lugia" form, it struggled to maintain top-tier power when mimicking others.
The process was fast. Moments later, two "Ditto-Genesect" stood in the moonlit yard. Their silver armor gleamed with a cold, predatory light.
To test its new capabilities, Ditto began playing a game of "fighting itself." The two Genesect blurred into action. Feng Che named them to differentiate the forms: Melee Mode and Long-Range Mode.
The Melee Mode, armed with monomolecular scythes, moved with ghostly speed, closing the gap in a flash. The Long-Range Mode countered by locking its quadruple sniper cannons and firing four beams of silver light—Mirror Shot.
The Melee Mode pirouetted through the air, dodging the beams and retaliating with a strike that whistled through the wind. As the two "Dittos" clashed, Feng Che released his true ace: the Awakened "Death Tank" Genesect.
With Ditto now capable of mimicking Mythical-tier steel hunters and a mission to a "death trap" city looming, should Feng Che head straight to Gringey City to dismantle the League's ambush, or take a detour to the Power Plant to give his new Genesect a "battery charge"?
