53: Arrested
Lily took her time and gave a long speech of how she survived the night of her attack and how she was rescued by an individual she really can't explain how he did it.
Few minutes after she delivered the speech, the return of Lily Cruz became the hottest news in town. A lot of congratulations was soon flooding her long abandoned blog.
Her news was believed and taken in at once since the initial discovery left no corpse behind nor anything that could have been used in detecting if she was really dead or not.
When asked who tried to hurt her, without missing words, Lily declared that Damian Cross, her husband, shot her when she caught him cheating on her with her best friend Anna Brook. She was cheated by her husband and best friend.
When people heard Lily's words, they cursed Damian Cross. That fellow had claimed that his wife must have committed suicide because of her inability to be pregnant after their two years of marriage.
So he had been lying and playing with other's intelligence. How dare he? He tried to murder his wife because he was having affairs with her friend? He had mourned a woman he really shot at? If she wasn't saved by a good Samaritan, she would have actually died.
Anna Brook was called several unpleasant names. A shame to womanhood. She even had the effrontery to get married to Damian Cross and claim she was doing it for her friend? She claimed that Damian had severally tried committing suicide because of his late wife Lily and she couldn't let him kill himself, hence she agreed to marry him after much pleadings.
They both were liars. When Lily released the evidence in her possession, and everyone saw that Anna Brook was already pregnant at the time Lily was said to be dead, they cursed her and prayed that karma catch up with her.
The whole city said that the government of imperial city saw that Damian Cross and his wife Anna Brook was sent behind bars for the rest of their lives. Having triggered the opinion of the entire city, Lily took some detectives and went to the Cruz mansion.
When the old employees in the house saw her, they shouted out for joy, especially her nanny. The old woman couldn't say anything but started sobbing. So in this life, she was going to see her baby again?
She had babysit Lily in the past, when she was still younger and had a great inclination to her. When the news of Lily's death got to her, she sobbed and almost went blind in tears. But her baby was back, and it seemed to her that she reincarnated.
She looked more beautiful than ever. Looks like she was well taking care of wherever she was all these months. At the time she heard that her husband and her friend got married, she felt something was wrong. It is either they were seeing each other when Lily was still alive or they got her out of the way so that they can be together.
She didn't know anything about what happened to her. The servants quarters were far away from the mansion. Except when summoned, they had no right to remain in the house after doing their work. That was why Damian could successfully carry out his inhumane behavior without being caught.
"Nanny," Lily called. She really missed her nanny. When she lost her memory, there's no one she remembered, not even her parents' death. Seeing her nanny now, she was excited.
"Lily, my child. I had thought I would only get to meet you again at reincarnation" her Nanny replied and embraced her dearly. "I missed you nanny" Lily whispered. "I missed you more my child" her Nanny replied.
Kayden Diego didn't leave Lily's side. He was quiet all along but his attention had not once shifted from Lily. He looked around the Cruz mansion and shook his head.
What a magnificent building. Justin was not surprised because he was there before. Damian was indeed greedy. How can he want to own such a house overnight when he's never owned a tent before?
The company was one thing, the mansion was another. He connived with his parents and ruined the Cruz's and then took over their properties. Bloody damn humans. They are so heartless.
Damian Cross was just opening his eyes after he fainted last night. He was surprised that he was now at home. How did he get home? Was it Lily that had him brought home?
His parents were on the other side, his eyes went to his mother first, she was still unconscious. Lily had made those younger boys to abuse his mother. How can she become so vicious? Where's her humanness? She could just kill him and then take her revenge rather than what she's done to them.
Where's Anna Brook? She was abused as well. The two women in his life were humiliated by his bodyguards at Lily's instructions and drugging. She's no longer the simple minded and innocent girl he used to know. She's become vicious, her new found 'darling' had taught her to be vicious.
Suddenly he heard footsteps, he turned and saw Lily walked in followed behind by several detectives. He became afraid, she had come to take him down for imprisonment? He tried to get up but the pain of his castration was still there.
With great difficulty, he raised himself to sit up. Lily walked over and towered over him. Hostility in her eyes, hatred in her speech "Your game is up Damian Cross and this is the end of your living in freedom. For what you did to mum and dad, and to me because of my unguided love towards you. It's time you pay for your sins"
His father woke up at that moment, his brain went blank. Why was he lying on the floor and in the sitting room for that matter? Slowly, he remembered everything. His eyes snapped bright with fright. He sat up and saw Lily staring at him with the eyes of a predator who's going to capture its prey.
"Dear supposed Father in-law. Thank you for supporting your son and urging him to shoot me down the cliff. You've proven how kind-hearted a person you are. For people who are kind like you and your son, there's a special place they usually end up. There you'll go" Lily thundered.
The men walked over and yanked them to their feet and placed an handcuffed to their wrist. Lily ordered the men and they searched the entire mansion but Anna Brook was not found.
Furiously Lily yelled at Damian "where's your damn whore, Anna Brook?" Damian Cross glanced at her briefly and then turned away. He didn't know where Anna Brook was. He just woke up from his unconscious state when they walked in. How was he supposed to know her whereabouts? Isn't she the one who had them brought back, she should ask her men.
"I don't know where Anna Brook is," Damian Cross replied simply. Turning to the detectives that came with her "search the entire city and get her arrested. She's a damn smart bitch. You must find her"
"Ma'am, looks like this woman is unconscious" one of the detectives who wanted to get Damian's mother arrested was surprised when he got to her and saw her breathing weakly. "Well, do what you have to do and throw her in jail as well" Lily answered flippantly as if she doesn't know why the old woman was unconscious.
Damian's eyes were deeply introverted..
He wondered if Lily felt any remorse for what she's done to his mother? She's behaving like she doesn't even give a damn. He was taken away by the police in handcuffs with his father.
But his father said nothing. He doesn't know why he couldn't say a word. He was injected with an unknown drug by one of Lily's men. Had they turned him into a dumb man?
Damian's mother was taken to a prison hospital. No one cared to investigate what led to her falling into a state of unconsciousness. Having settled everything, Lily sighed audibly:
She'd taken her revenge and felt an inner satisfaction. Her parent's killers have been brought before the law. They were going to rest in peace and be happy that their daughter did what she was supposed to have done a long time ago: severe every relationship with Damian and sent him to jail
Lily ordered the servants to give the mansion a thorough cleaning and remove everything that resembles or belongs to Damian Cross and his family. She would return the next day to take over her mansion.
That way, Lily and her supposed bodyguards returned to their hotel. When they entered, Lily threw herself into Kayden Diego's arms. She started sobbing.
The latter squinted. Why is she sobbing? Shouldn't she be happy that finally she got her parents' murderers behind bars? He knew that sometimes, crying doesn't imply that one is weak, but that one had held on for too long. He pats her back gently, trying to pacify her. Though he doesn't feel she should be crying, she should have been jubilating instead.
"Thank you darling, thank you for saving my life. This day wouldn't have come to be if you didn't save me that day. You gave me a chance to live again and pay Damian what he deserved for murdering my parents and shooting at me.
Thank you for loving me unconditionally, thank you for making my life experience a better one than the ones I've ever lived.
Thank you for leaving your numerous work and adjusting your tight schedule to stand by me.
Thank you for making me a woman,a mother, an experience I craved for all the years I was with Damian Cross.
Thank you for everything" Lily recounted all that Kayden Diego had done for her and told him she'll never be able to make it up to him as she should.
She buried her head in Kayden's torso and circled her hands around his waist. Kayden didn't say anything, but could only conclude in his heart that it's fate that had brought them together.
He raised her head gently and made her look at him. He towered over her and placed his lips on hers. It was a brief moment of kiss, a gentle kiss but Kayden pulled out and left a featherlight kiss on her temple.
"I love you very much Lily. You knew how I was before you won my heart over. I couldn't have imagined that day I saved you that you were going to end up being my mate. I had no idea whatsoever.
Thank you for breaking through my embargo and teaching me to love.
Thank you for Alvan Diego and agreeing to be my mate, my Luna"
They both Chuckled and smiled before Lily said she missed her son Alvan Diego and was eager to meet him soon. Kayden also said he also missed him.
Damian and his father were placed in separate prisons. They both were nursing their wounds and lived in regrets. Damian's father was the saddest, his Son has no way to ever father a child even if he was pardoned and gets out of prison one day.
His wife had been abused and molested by the younger men who were just errands boys to his son.
This shame was too much for him to bear. He had been cuckold before his very eyes and he couldn't do anything to stop the act. It was better to end his life and seal the shame away from him and his memory.
Late that evening, Anna Brook was arrested. She was sent to jail. She didn't know she would be discovered despite going to hide herself in a remote part of the city. She had suffered the loss of everything, her baby, her friendship with Lily because of her misguided love towards someone else's husband.
And the Damian for which she suffered the loss of everything was also behind bars, a now completely impotent man. What is now her profit? What does she stand to gain from her act of betrayal?
It all started and centered on betrayal. She betrayed her friendship and she would never be able to mend the broken pieces of her life together again.
Two days later, Lily had now returned to the Cruz's mansion in company of her husband and Justin. She was called and told that Damian's father had committed suicide.
"Ok" she said and continued with her sorting files. What is her business with Damian's father's death? Is she the one to bury him? Or crenate his damn corpse? Hadn't her parents also died? They should get to meet in the other world and report to her parents why he and his son sent them over before their time.
Kayden Diego asked her what the call was all about and Lily said Damian's father was dead. She said it so flippantly as if the one who died was a chicken. Kayden didn't ask any more questions but helped Lily to put things in order, sorting out files and signing what needs to be signed.
She changed everything Damian had signed and returned the company to what it has always been. The old employees that were sacked were reinstated and the new ones were flushed out. Nothing by Damian Cross was welcome and so the new employees left.
The President of imperial city sent a Congratulatory message to Lily on her return. It was a pleasant surprise that her return brought along. He promised to see Damian Cross rot in jail for what he did.
Damian's mother woke up a few days later and the first person she asked after was her son. Where's her Son? Did he survive Lily's torture? But no one gave her a question an answer but examined her thoroughly before sending her to jail.
Later she discovered that her husband was dead, her Son had been imprisoned as well and Anna Brook was in the same female prison with her. She was greatly grieved at the turn of events. They were all condemned criminals and there's no hope of them coming out again.
