Chapter 74 Causing a Turmoil

Chapter 74 Causing a Turmoil

While Wen Ran was slapping the Zhang brothers into submission, the fire on the stairs continued to grow, thickening the air with the pungent smell of smoke. It quickly spread to the second floor, where the haze disturbed the slumber of a certain individual. The heavy scent of alcohol still clung to his breath as he stirred awake. It was Luo Feng. Having completely forgotten about Wen Ran, he'd drunk himself into a deep sleep. But now, the sharp stench of smoke hit his nose, dragging him out of his stupor.

"What the hell is going on? Can't a man get some peace and quiet?" he grumbled irritably, pushing himself up from the chair. He moved lazily down the stairs, his eyes narrowing when he saw the fire devouring the steps like a wild beast.

"These damn juniors are going to drive me insane..." Luo Feng muttered under his breath. With a snap of his fingers, a wave of water shot from his hand, rushing down the spiraling stairs and quickly dousing the flames.

"Who the hell set the stairs on fire? I'll have your head this instant! Ah!?" Luo Feng's eyes narrowed as he surveyed the scene. His gaze fell upon a youth with white hair, standing amidst two men lying on the ground, their faces swollen like pigs, while the third was still receiving the beating of a lifetime. The sight stunned him momentarily, but Luo Feng quickly regained his composure. A soft, wild grin spread across his lips.

"Hahaha! So it was Junior Brother Wen!" he laughed, his voice carrying across the room, causing Wen Ran to turn and meet his eyes.

"I hope senior doesn't mind," Wen Ran said casually, wiping his hands off on his robe. "Just teaching some idiots a lesson. And the one with the pig's head," he pointed to the first man he'd beaten, "he was the one who started the fire. If you need to beat someone up for that, beat him."

The observers watched in stunned silence, unsure of what to think. Not only had Wen Ran taken the Zhang brothers to task, but he was also casually conversing with Luo Feng, the strongest expert among the core disciples. The audacity was both impressive and terrifying.

"Don't be silly. He might be strong, but do you really think he could beat any of the top ten?" another responded dismissively.

"Even if he can't now, who's to say he won't be able to do so in the future? I'm definitely becoming his fan. This person has something others don't. If you can't see that, you must have a pig's head," someone else added, their voice full of admiration.

The inner sect was quickly divided between those who became Wen Ran's fans and haters. There were even some indifferent disciples who simply didn't care—Wen Ran was just another arrogant junior to them, and if given the opportunity, they would put him in his place.

Meanwhile, Wen Ran had arrived at a building that resembled a pagoda from the outside, decorated with golden dragon statues and surrounded by flowing lotus ponds. The place radiated an aura of tranquility and elegance, looking like an immortal paradise.

"What are we doing here, Senior Brother?" Wen Ran asked, his curiosity piqued. His time in the sect had been full of unexpected turns, and he wasn't sure if he could handle many more surprises.

"No need for formalities. From today, just call me Luo Feng. I've already accepted you as a true brother in my heart. Once I choose someone, I won't back down, so just call me by my name from now on, Wen Ran." Luo Feng said with a smile, his words sincere but somewhat unexpected. Wen Ran wasn't sure whether to be pleased, confused, or amused by this sudden shift in their relationship. He had just met the man, yet here he was, calling him a sworn brother.

"Thank you, Luo Feng. Now, why are we here?" Wen Ran asked, still processing the strange turn of events.

Luo Feng scratched his cheek sheepishly. "Ah, this... You'll see once you're inside. There's someone who wants to meet you." Without giving Wen Ran a chance to protest, Luo Feng pushed him gently into the building and shut the door behind him, retreating with a hurried step, as if he'd just stepped on a cat's tail.
