Chapter 245 The Last Stand (1)

Linsley smirked, his mind already racing with ideas. "You're not wrong. Alright, let's do it. But if we're pulling this off, it has to be flawless. No glitches, no shortcuts. If we're going to drag an entire gaming convention into a zombie apocalypse, we're going to do it right."

Aurielle practically vibrated with excitement. "Finally, someone who gets it! Alright, give me a second."

She closed her eyes, her hands glowing with a faint violet light as her Gift Creation gift activated.

Within moments, a glowing sphere materialized in her palm. She opened her eyes, tossing it into the air with a flourish.

"There. A gift for creating and maintaining a seamless virtual game world. Now, Linsley, it's your turn to bring this bad boy to life."

Linsley extended his hand, his white flux swirling around him like mist. The sphere absorbed the flux, glowing brighter as his Real Fantasy gift melded with Aurielle's creation.

The room around them began to shift, the air humming with energy as reality itself warped.

The walls of the convention hall melted away, replaced by the crumbling remains of a post-apocalyptic city. Skyscrapers loomed overhead, their windows shattered and vines creeping up their sides.

The distant sound of groaning zombies echoed through the streets, accompanied by the faint rustle of wind.

Linsley raised an eyebrow as he surveyed their handiwork. "Not bad. Almost too real."

Aurielle grinned triumphantly. "Told you it'd be fun. Now, let's invite our players."

With a wave of her hand, a glowing portal opened, pulling in everyone from the convention.

The gamers appeared one by one, blinking in disbelief as they took in their surroundings.

The bustling lights and noise of the convention hall had been replaced by the eerie silence of a crumbling city. The distant growls of zombies and the faint rustle of wind set the tone for what awaited them.

Skyscrapers loomed overhead, their shattered windows and creeping vines painted a vivid picture of an apocalypse frozen in time. Fires smoldered in the distance, casting flickering shadows that danced ominously across the cracked streets.@@@@

Aurielle clapped her hands together, her grin as wide as ever. "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to your new reality! I hope you've got your survival instincts polished, because you're going to need them."

The two entered cautiously, the air thick with the smell of mildew and decay.

Overturned shelves littered the floor, their contents scattered in disarray. A rusting shopping cart sat on its side, its wheels squeaking faintly with the breeze.

Aurielle motioned to the back. "Alright, split up. We'll cover more ground this way—food, weapons, maybe a flashlight if we're lucky."

Linsley nodded, making his way toward the nearest aisle. He sifted through the rubble, managing to find a half-empty box of energy bars, a couple of water bottles, and a crowbar.

Testing its weight in his hand, he muttered, "This'll do."

Aurielle, meanwhile, rummaged through the pharmacy section, her excitement unmistakable.

"Bandages, painkillers... oh, and look at this—a bottle labeled 'zombie repellent.'"

She laughed, tossing it into her makeshift satchel. "Not sure if it works, but it's got style."

"Does it smell like disappointment?" Linsley called from another aisle.

"Probably," Aurielle replied with a grin. "But I couldn't resist."

The faint crunch of glass underfoot snapped both of them to attention.

Linsley's grip tightened on his crowbar as his eyes scanned the shadowy corners of the store.

"Did you hear that?" he asked quietly.

Aurielle nodded, her pistols already in her hands. "Company."

A guttural moan echoed from the darkness, growing louder as the unmistakable shuffle of feet drew closer. Three zombies emerged from the shadows, their decayed forms moving with unrelenting hunger.

Aurielle's grin widened. "Finally, some action."
