Chapter 585 - 585: Taking Off Pants Again
Chapter 585 - 585: Taking Off Pants Again
"That little brat — she's actually using my face to do that kind of thing!"Watching what was unfolding on the screen, Miko made no effort to hide her displeasure. She'd even half a mind to walk over and give that so-called screen a good kick.
The only problem was that she was still hanging there, hands bound above her head — she couldn't reach it.
But... haven't you already done that kind of thing yourself?
And you even invited me along...
Watching Miko fume from the side, Lumine couldn't help thinking exactly that.
After all, Miko had been the proactive one back then — hadn't even wiped her mouth before waving Lumine over to give it a try herself.
But however curious she was, Lumine would never dare say any of that out loud.
"Why do you keep staring at me? And why does your expression look so strange?"
At that moment, Miko turned her head and looked straight at Lumine.
She'd been about to say something to Lumine, but the moment she looked, she found Lumine wearing a thoroughly odd expression.
"That's not me in there, you know." Thinking Lumine might have confused the figure on the screen with the real her, Miko added that clarification.
"I know that."
Caught out, Lumine gave a slightly awkward reply and nodded along.
"Forget it, Miko — let's talk later tonight." Just as Miko was about to say something more to Lumine, Kaito's voice drifted out from the screen again.
Lumine glanced over. He was there on the screen, gripping his own trousers with both hands in a futile effort to stop 'Miko' from pulling them off.
"I already told you — you don't need to do anything. I'll handle it myself."
Kaito's protests made no difference. The 'Miko' on the screen just kept tugging downward, the very picture of single-minded obsession.
"That idiot Kaito — I would never act like that. How can he not tell the difference?"
Watching the scene play out, Miko muttered her grievance.
If that were really her in there, none of this would be happening. She could take or leave that sort of thing — she wasn't someone who'd die without it.
"Come to think of it, how come I haven't appeared yet?" Lumine, who had been watching the whole time, finally said what had been on her mind.
After all, Mobius had impersonated her as well as Miko — yet there was no sign of a fake Lumine anywhere on the screen, which was obviously strange.
"Don't you usually stay in your room most of the time? Maybe that's exactly what the fake you is doing right now." Miko turned to look at Lumine and went on: "And the fake me is probably Mobius's main body, so naturally there's no fake you — it feels like that's how it is."
"Oh. That makes sense." Lumine nodded. Miko's reasoning sounded perfectly plausible.
Even so, Lumine couldn't quite shake a vague sense of disappointment.
Because she'd wanted to see — she'd wanted to know how Kaito would react if he came face to face with a fake her.
Or to put it another way: she was curious what his reaction would be if the fake her pulled the same moves as the fake Miko on that screen. She was very curious, actually.
She wasn't the proactive type herself — she'd never do anything like that — but she still wanted to know what Kaito would do if she ever was.
"Well then, I suppose we'll wait until tonight." On the screen, just as Lumine was quietly feeling let down, the fake 'Miko' finally seemed to give up on the idea.
"That little brat — making me look like all I ever think about is that sort of thing. She deserves a good beating!!"
Miko's anger had only sharpened.
She couldn't help it. What she was watching — Mobius wearing her face — looked for all the world like a woman whose head was stuffed with nothing but one thing.
"Once Kaito finds out, the misunderstanding will sort itself out."
With a helpless little smile, that was the best Lumine could offer.
Since the person in there wasn't really Miko, the most Lumine could do was offer some outside-observer comfort.
"How badly does that little brat want to do that kind of thing with Kaito — and that idiot Kaito can't even see through it. They both deserve a beating!"
Miko pressed on with her grievances, dragging Kaito into it this time as well.
Lumine continued her helpless smile, at a genuine loss for words.
And then, at that very moment, the screen went dark.
"...Looks like that's all there is."
Watching the screen go black, Lumine said as much.
She figured that was all Mobius had wanted them to see.
"There's definitely more." Miko thought differently. She was certain there was more to come.
She remembered it clearly — just a moment ago, Mobius had said 'later tonight', which meant the next segment was probably the evening content.
She knew exactly what Mobius had in mind. This was obviously meant to make the two of them sit here and watch whatever was happening back at the small courtyard.
"Huh?"
The moment Miko said it, Lumine immediately looked back at the screen.
Sure enough, right on cue — the screen lit up again.
This time, however, the main character had changed. It was Lumine's turn. The figure on the screen appeared to be outside the small courtyard, walking toward somewhere — it wasn't clear exactly where.
"Your turn now, Lumine."
Since Lumine had just been wondering why she hadn't appeared yet, Miko couldn't resist a teasing remark the moment she spotted her.
She had a feeling that what the fake Lumine was about to do would be much the same as what the fake Miko had just been doing.
"Am I also going to..."
— Creak.
Before she could finish the sentence, Lumine watched the fake her arrive at a doorway and begin carefully, quietly easing the door open — and the sight stopped her mid-sentence. She forgot what she was saying entirely and turned her full attention to the screen.
"Don't tell me the plot this time is going to be the fake you sneaking in to do that kind of thing while Kaito's asleep?" Miko, who was watching the same scene, suddenly floated that theory.
She couldn't help it — worldly and well-read as she was, she'd come across exactly this sort of storyline in novels before.
"Huh? But... you can't really do that kind of thing with someone who's asleep, can you?"
Lumine blinked, turned her head, and looked at Miko — who was staring at the screen with absolute focus — and the words slipped out before she could stop them.
"Who knows — let's just watch and see what this little thing is trying to do."
Miko's eyes stayed fixed on the screen as she replied, her tone perfectly even.
That was the truth of it. She didn't know whether it would go that way, but she knew that watching would tell her — that much was beyond question.
Unless, of course, the little brat pulled something out of pure spite and deliberately cut away before they could see what happened next.
And in the time the two of them had been talking, the fake Lumine had already slipped inside Kaito's room — and sure enough, Kaito was fast asleep.
"It... it looks like she really is going to do that kind of thing?"
Watching the fake her move to Kaito's bedside and stand there staring down at him, Lumine realized Miko might actually have guessed right.
"Pulling the trousers again."
The fake Lumine on the screen was already doing exactly what the fake Miko had done — working at Kaito's trousers.
Lumine: "..."
"Lumine!"
"Huh? What is it?"
Startled by Miko suddenly calling her name, Lumine looked over at her curiously.
"You haven't already done something like that before, have you?"
